Be Among the Chosen

Again, I implore God's people to not negate the need to look for Christ's return. Jesus tells us to be watchful for the signs of His return.  Now I'm a lover of end time prophecy.  It's interesting, evident, and I love the thought that we shall see the King soon.  You don't have to be an avid student of end time prophecy but you are exhorted by Jesus to be ever watchful.

Luke 21:36 - Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.

Watching for Christ's Return

So are we, God's children, His royal priesthood, supposed to be watching for His return or just going about our lives without a thought to the signs He will give us believing that when the trumpet sounds we'll hear and be taken up into the clouds?  Although I don't assume I know God and His Word as much as I should or could, I believe the Word speaks clearly on the subject.

"Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming" (Matthew 24:42).
"But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will" (Matthew 24:43-44).
Jesus told the church in Sardis: "So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you" (Revelation 3:3).

I don't think God ever intended for His people to stick their heads in the sand or go about their busy lives never paying attention to the signs He promised we would see.  Could it be that when the two are in the field and one is taken and one is left behind it implies more than just a lack of salvation but also a lack of preparedness?

I, for one, see almost all the signs fulfilled and being fulfilled almost on a daily basis.  I can almost hear the trumpet, I can  hear the Holy Spirit telling God's children to get ready for the Day is almost upon us.  Are you prepared?  Are you paying attention to the signs He said would appear?

Does this mean that we stop living, stop doing, stop going?  NO!  Now more than ever, it means we press on towards the mark witnessing and spreading the Good News to the lost.  We work, we laugh, we live, we serve God and be His hands and feet keeping our spiritual eyes to the Eastern sky and our spiritual ears in tune with the Holy Spirit.
